Big Girl Panties

Today, April 2nd, 2009 marks the official start of Ansley and Bailey wearing big girl panties. We have been doing some potty training for a while and the girls seem to be more in tune with it. However, the big deciding factor was Bailey's new found hobby of taking her diaper off and saying no diaper. Since they both seemed ready to try, we went for it and they have been doing great!!

Ansley and Bailey going Night Night

In the past couple of weeks, Ansley and Bailey have taken up sleeping in the same bed again. It all started when one night, the girls were getting in their beds and Ansley turned around before getting in hers, came over to Bailey's with the most pitiful look on her face, and then just stood there. When I offered to let here get in, she was so thrilled. They have not wanted to every night, but they defiantly have started making it a regular thing. Too cute =)

Ansley's first night in a toddler Bed

After returning from Fall for Greenville, we got the little ones ready for bed. This was Ansley first night in her toddler bed. She didn't know what to think at first and since we were unsure what she would think, we still had the crib set up in the room. At first she went over to the crib, but then she seemed to be interested in her new bed. The transition was a success!!

The next night she did the cutest thing. In her room, she had a flower lay necklace and a pair of neon yellow sunglasses. I heard them up and when I walked in, Ansley had her lay and glasses on. It was too cute!!

Parent Teacher/Conference for Ansley 5-16-08

On Friday, John and I went to Palmetto Prep and met with Ansley's teacher, Jessica LaBombard for a parent-teacher conference to discuss Ansley's progress. Mrs. Jessica said that Ansley is doing great. Ansley is playing well with others and has developed several interests. Her favorite thing to do is listen to music. Jessica said that Ansley will sit and listen to music for up to 45 minutes. Next to music is art and crafts. She is really good at stringing beads to make necklaces and gluing. Not only is she good at arts and crafts, she really seems to enjoy it and has developed really good dexterity for her age. She also has a "better than average" vocabulary by being able to speak more than 10 words. She can say "Hi, Uh-oh, Sit, Bailey, ball, good girl, thank you, mine, more..."

Jessica also commented on how Ansley is a light sleeper and just walking by her cot can wake her up. Ansley is usually the last one in her class to go to sleep and the first to wake up. Ansley is also pretty independent. She will play with Bailey and her other classmates, but she is fine to play by herself. The last thing that we discussed was removing Ansley's pacifier. We think that we may try weaning her from it in about a month.

Ansley and Bailey's 1st Hair Cut

On Saturday morning, May 3rd, I took Ansley and Bailey to Snip-Its for their 1st hair cuts. When we arrived, I signed the girls in and we waited a few minutes on their couch. When it was their turn, Bailey was up first. She sat up in the chair, but was somewhat unsure. The lady tried to bribe her with cookies and a sucker and soon, Mom and Emily arrived. Bailey soon started pitching a royal fit screaming and kicking her legs. She didn't want anything to do with the hair cut. The lady quickly finished and she was rescued, but still bitter!!!

Up next was Ansley. I placed her up in the chair and she was as happy as she could be. She enjoyed her sucker and laughed as the lady cut her hair =) After we were done, we all headed to Chick-fil-a for lunch.

Ansley and Bailey's 1st Birthday

On the afternoon of Wednesday, December 18, 2007, Emily, Ansley, and I made our way down to the creeper room after Emily’s Christmas party. When I arrived Bailey was very excited to see me. We started by passing out the cup cakes (Emily helped me make the cupcakes on Tuesday night) and then singing Happy Birthday to each girl. Bailey of course tore into her cupcake while Ansley was much more reserved for a while. Ms, Jessie helped with the cupcake party. After the party was through, we headed to the van. I spoke with John on the way home, and we discussed going over to see Granny. So swung by the house to pick up cups for the girls, the girls birthday cakes and birthday presents. Starting this year we started the tradition that even though the kids have their big party with their friends, on there actual birthday we give family presents and have a family meal. It was really nice. Since we were going to be at Granny’s on their birthday, I wanted to bring everything to have their celebration. When we arrived, Emily, Ansley, and Bailey enjoyed playing on Granny’s air mattress in the living room. Soon John arrived and it was time to feed the little ones. After they were fed, we all headed downstairs to check on Gran. Once we were in the basement, we said hi to Gran and worked on getting Emily fed while Mrs. J worked on getting Gran ready. Once Emily ate, John and I took a few minutes to eat some beef stew. After that we let the girls open the presents. Bailey got an ABC play stand and a silver bracelet with a heart on it that was engraved with her initials from John and myself. Ansley got an animal train and a silver bracelet with a heart on it that was engraved with her initials from John and myself. On her birthday, I took Emily to Babies R Us where she picked out a set of passies for Ansley and some crayons for Bailey that she gave to them after they opened their other gifts. Emily helped the little ones open their gifts. While the gifts were being opened, John worked on getting them out of the packages so that the girls could play. After some playing with the new toys, it was cake time. First we sang happy birthday to Ansley and gave her cake to her. Then we followed by singing Happy Birthday to Bailey. Both girls really enjoyed their cakes and after they had worked on them a while, I gave them baths and put on their jammies so that John could take all the girls home. Once John left with the girls, I took Gran to the mall to do some of his Christmas shopping.

In addition she is right on the verge of crawling. She is moving pretty well, just trying to fine tune getting everything coordinated.
