Fall for Greenville 10-12-08

On Sunday afternoon, October 12th we made our way downtown after the girls woke up from thier naps. When we arrived, we parked and headed over to the game area in order to let the kids ride a few rides. Emily and I waited in line while John and the little ones walked around. Even though it was the last day and it was Sunday afternoon, there was surprisingly a large crowd. After we got our tickets, I got a call from Daddy that he had arrived so we met up with him before heading to the first ride. The girls wanted to ride the carousel first, so Daddy and I took all of them on it while John took some pictures. They all had a great time and even attracted a lot of attention from the news cameraman who kept filming them. After our ride, we looked around for a few minutes and Emily decided she really wanted to ride the large ferris wheel. There was a large line, so we had to take turns holding a spot in line while some of us walked around with the little ones. The little ones were able to get balloons which was a highlight for them and enjoyed playing with them until they floated away. After a while, John was almost to the front of the line with Emily when she decided she wanted Daddy and I to go with her so we traded off and the three of us went on the ride. She really enjoyed it and after the ride was over, we headed to Bertolos, the pizza place, to eat dinner. Even though normally we would have eaten at the booths, we decided it would be easier to sit down with the kids. Everyone dug in and after scarfing down a lot of pizza, they were ready to head out to see what else was happening. We headed up to the fountain outside the Hyatt where the girls had a blast dancing to the band that was playing, stepping over the stones in the stream, and playing with some older kids who had a ball. As it got later, we headed back towards the ride area where Emily used up the last couple of tickets on the way to the car.

Downtown Greenville Christmas Parade 2007

After Emily awoke from her nap on Saturday afternoon, December 1st, we got bundled up and so that Emily and I could head downtown to the Christmas parade. After negotiating the traffic, we were able to park in the Richardson Street parking garage around 5pm. The weather was really quite nice in the 50's. The two of us, walked over to the Hyatt where we met up with Katrina, Christian, Mason, and Sydney. Thy had grabbed us a bench right out in front of the Hyatt so we could watch the parade. When we arrived, Daddy had already gone to Bertolos to get pizza for the group. During the time until the parade started, the kids enjoyed playing. In that time, Leslie, Megan, Quinten, Blake, and Little Q arrived. Due to all the people, it was about 5:45 until Daddy made it back with the pizza. We all ate, and got ready to watch the parade. It was kind of slow to get started with several breaks in between floats. For just a little while in the beginning, Emily was willing to ride on Daddy's shoulders to see better. However, due to a recent attachment to me, Emily got down and I supported her standing on the bench. She was really excited to see the parade. Her favorite part seemed to be the bands, but the symbols in particular. It started to get old after a while to her and she wanted to walk around and play by the fountain in front of the Hyatt. We did that and came back to our spot at the bench just in time to see Santa finish up the parade around 7:15. When it was all over,w e decided we would go to see if the light was on at Krispie Cream. Sydney decided to ride with Emily and I so the three of us made our way back to the parking garage. Unfortunately we were stuck in the garage for about 30 minutes due to traffic. It was defiantly not worth the free parking =) When we finally arrived at Krispie Cream, Katrina, Christian, and Mason were waiting for us at the table and Daddy was just making it out of the long line. Emily and Sydney enjoyed their snowman donuts, while the rest of us enjoyed the hot glazed.

Mauldin Fest 2007

On Saturday morning, September 22, 2007, Daddy came over to our house and we all rode over to Mauldin Fest that was being held at Sunset Park in Mauldin. Although the day started out on the cool side, it quickly warmed up. Once we arrived and parked, we headed in the gates. There at the front were the Mauldin Fire Department. Emily really enjoyed getting a hat!! While we were there we enjoyed walking around. After a brief stop by the stage it was on to the rides. I think Emily's favorite was the pony ride. After Emily rode several rides, she wanted me to ride with her on the spinning apples. It was all I could do to make it off the ride without getting sick =), but Emily thought it was great!! By that time, we were all ready for a drink, so we headed to the concessions. Emily, Ansley, and Bailey enjoyed Italian Icees, while us big people headed for cokes. It was only Ansley and Bailey's 2nd icee ever (the first was at Blake's 1st birthday party) and they were even more impressed than the first time!!! After our refreshments, we walked around to the little boots some. At the MASH tent, Emily had the chance to get her arm wrapped up with a bandage and fake blood. After our walk around, we headed back to the car and headed home.
